How pupil mobility is calculated
Pupil mobility is only calculated for state funded schools:
- a mobile pupil is a child who joined the school after the start of year 10
- a non-mobile pupil is a child who was at the school for all of year 10 and Year 11
You cannot change admission dates during the checking exercise.
If a school has a high percentage of mobile pupils with an earlier admission date provided in a previous census, we use that earlier date instead. This means those pupils will no longer be counted as mobile.
If there is no earlier admission date on record, the pupils will still be counted as mobile when the school’s mobility figures are calculated later in the year.
