Check your KS4 June performance measures data
Guidance for schools and colleges on how to use the check your performance measures data (CYPMD) service.
This guidance will help you check your key stage 4 (KS4) data and request any changes during the June checking exercise.

Changes since 2025
We’ve made the following updates to the CYPMD service since last year:
- you can now request to add an unlisted pupil in the service, instead of using an online form
- we’ve improved the merge duplicate pupil records option
- we’ve updated the child missing education option to reflect current legislation
- we’ve enhanced the add back removal options
- the service now includes information to help you understand when and how to submit amendment requests
- CSV files are now sorted alphabetically by surname
Key dates
- 15 June 2026
- KS4 June checking exercise opens in the CYPMD service.
- 26 June 2026
- Checking exercise closes at 5pm. You must submit all requests and supporting evidence before this deadline.
- October 2026
- Autumn checking exercise opens.
- October 2026
- Provisional 2025 to 2026 secondary school performance measures are published. A national statistics release will be published on the same day, showing headline measures for England and key pupil groups.
- Early 2027
- Revised 2025 to 2026 secondary school performance measures are published.
About this guidance
This is non-statutory guidance from the Department for Education (DfE). It helps state-funded secondary schools, special schools, independent schools, and FE colleges with 14 to 16 provision understand their responsibilities for checking their performance data.

Who this guidance is for
- school leaders, school staff and governing bodies in all state funded secondary schools (maintained schools, academies, free schools, studio schools and university technical colleges)
- special schools (maintained schools, academies and free schools)
- registered independent schools
- further education colleges with 14 to 16 provision
What the KS4 performance measures cover in the 2025 to 2026 academic year
The DfE publishes school performance measures every year. These measures help compare how well schools support pupils’ attainment and progress.
The 2025 to 2026 KS4 performance measures will cover pupils who completed their KS4 studies in that academic year. This may include some qualifications achieved in earlier years, such as 2024 to 2025.
Progress 8 will not be included for 2025 to 2026. This is because there is no Key Stage 2 (KS2) prior attainment data available from COVID-affected years, which is needed to calculate Progress 8. There will be no replacement measure.
English Baccalaureate (EBacc) headline and additional measures will also be removed from 2025 to 2026, following our response to the Curriculum and Assessment Review.
